How SENCOs can support primary and secondary teachers to help SEND K pupils to overcome reading, retrieval and working memory barriers to learning. Key Objectives: • What are the challenges / barriers to efficient and effective reading for SEND K pupils? • Why we should explicitly teach reading comprehension skills. • Explore what digital reading comprehension and search skills we need to teach. • Principles behind setting accessible learning tasks/activities for SEND K pupils with weak reading development skills. Description of session: Key information bites, interspersed with opportunities for breakout sessions to share practice.
